Reminder:
Local plants
and grasses during the summer months still do not
require as much water as people think. Only one inch in one,
and nor more than two, applications per week is necessary! If it rains – do not water until the
landscape shows signs of needing moisture. Watering too
much creates a shallow root system that requires
excessive water during the hottest, driest periods.
Overwatering creates environments that breed harmful
mosquitoes, too!

The Woodlands
Municipal Utility
Districts in
Montgomery County,
according to James
M. Stinson, P.E.,
general manager of
The WJPA.
“Due to continued
extreme hot and dry
weather and
unprecedented water
demand, we have
initiated Stage 3 of
our MUDs’ Water
Conservation and
Drought Contingency
Plan. This is a
MANDATORY WATER
RESTRICTION NOTICE
that limits outdoor
irrigation to no
more than two days
per week and no more
than a total of one
inch of potable
water applied per
week,” said Stinson.
Fines
up to $200 per
violation may be
imposed for repeat
offenders.

To reduce stress on

to complete all
watering cycles by 4

Residential

are as follows:

Water Saving
Device Rebate
We offer a 50%
rebate, up to $150.00, on the purchase and
installation of a rain sensor, or the installation
of an ET Smart Controller, for your sprinkler
system. A rain sensor will detect the presence
of rain and shut off your system automatically. This alleviates the large problem in The Woodlands
of numerous sprinklers running during a rain event.
The ET Smart Controller offers several ways to save
water. It considers evaporation and
transpiration rates, humidity, temperature and
rainfall before allowing the sprinkler system to
apply water.
The WJPA office can
provide a list of approved water saving devices and irrigation contractors
who install them. Contact Customer Service at
281-367-1271 for information on obtaining your
rebate, up to $150.00!

Mosquitoes a Home!

An inch of water a week is enough.

They attract mosquitoes and contribute
to flooding.

Repair leaky faucets.
-
Eliminate debris that
hold water.
-
Maintain pools and spas;
keep water from pooling on covers.
-
Empty water from plant
pots and saucers.
-
Clean gutters regularly.
Irrigate wisely to conserve
water and control mosquitoes!
